What is a Quick Action Throttle? Guide

Let's start with what is a "Quick Throttle"?
Quick throttle, Quick action, and also 1/4 Turn are all describing generaly the same product: a motorcycle throttle housing with a Pulley (also called "cams" or "rings") that it's diameter is LARGER than the stock original pulley.
And what does it do?
Having a larger pulley simply makes a shorter stroke required to go from 0% throttle to wide open 100% throttle position, meaning less twist of my wrist is needed to hit the gas all the way. Therefor the name "quick action" or "1/4 turn"..
Why should I install one?
Simple, even if you are a calm rider that only makes short trips on your bike you always encounter those situations when your wrist is twisted as far as you can, but the throttle is not! So then you find yourself in the middle of passing another vehicle focusing on lowering and crunching your upper body and right arm just to get that extra leverage you need to open the throttle more than it is. Not to mention some find causing fatigue on their right palm and wrist when they have to constantly play with it. Now if you're a more "sport type" rider or making track days on your bike just imagine how much precious time it can save you geing out of sharp corners or fast sweepers :-)
Are all Quick Throttles alike?
Absolutly NO. First thing that needs to be considered is quality. Try to avoid cheap far eastern made products, they may look nice but usualy you will have a sloppy throttle tube or worn out pulleys in no time. Another consideration is will a single pulley will be sufficient. It might if you always ride on the same roads or track and know your bike perfectly. But many riders choose the largest pulley available when they purchase a single pulley kit and then find it too "jumpy", too quick for their everyday road riding they're used to. Pro kits offer more than one pulley size in the kit so you can simply replace it in a couple of minutes. That also works best if you use your bike for both the road and for the track cause you can choose the largest pulley for your track day and than switch to a more gefortable riding pulley when you go on the public road.
So I got a Quick Throttle Kit, am I good to go?
99.9% NO! You might purchase a kit that has no cables. Now you say "but I can use my stock cables", well usualy you can't! That's because you will need to find a way to fit those stock cables into the new throttle housing and you normaly can not. So either you make your own cables with ends wich are always not as strong or you simply buy a kit that gees with designated cables.
*With all things said, don't forget it's always better to lose a second in life than to lose life in a second!
