What the heck does "NOS" mean?

What the heck is "NOS"? Why do sellers use this word or acronym and what is the hidden meaning behind it?NOS, or New Old Stock, as you see sellers use in their listings... They refer to Old items that have been sitting around for a very long time. So in their eyes, since it wasn't used, it's considered New! But its old. Therefore, it's New but aged.In my eyes, this means absolutely nothing and just a desperate selling tactic to get buyers to buy their new products, passing them off as old or antique, when they really aren't. Everyone knows people will spend a little more money on something that is aged/antique rather than something brand new, for the nostalgia of it. Sellers know this all too well.So be aware of anything that states it's "NOS", or New Old Stock. Good chance, it's really a Brand New item, but the Seller is just trying to pull the wool over your eyes to make it seem like it's old or antique, just to get a few more dollars from an unsuspecting buyer who doesn't know any better. I sell and I also buy on okay. I would never buy anything that is stated as NOS! Either it's new, or it's old.
